Vessel Fall in session · Vessel Winter enrolling soon

Vessel

Wisdom you don't just study — wisdom you take out and live.

Vessel is a twelve-week experiential intensive. Each week hands you a real challenge to carry into your life — an exercise, a practice, a thing to do — with the learning there to make the doing possible, not the other way around. You don't leave with notes. You leave changed.

It runs four times a year, each season shaped by its own moment in the Jewish calendar and its holidays.

A study in capacity

What a keli can hold — and how you enlarge it.

A keli is a vessel — what a thing can hold. Vessel is about enlarging what you're able to contain: one character trait each week, learned from the sources, located in its place in the Kabbalistic architecture of the soul, then taken out into your actual life and answered for in front of the group.

It's a marriage of two traditions. Mussar is the Jewish discipline of working directly on character — not studying virtue, but practicing it, deliberately and honestly. Kabbalah is the map of how a soul is structured. Vessel puts them together: each trait isn't just a virtue to admire but a specific part of the soul doing what it's for — compassion as Chesed flowing through you, patience as Gevurah holding the line. You learn where a quality lives in you, then you go exercise it.

A ninety-minute session — the trait taught from primary sources, shown in the sefirotic structure, followed by a round where each person reports the week they just had. Then the practice: a real assignment carried through the week. These are behavioral, not contemplative — you'll be asked to do things, some uncomfortable, some faintly ridiculous, each calibrated with you beforehand and kept harmless by design. You keep an honest record. The record is what the next week works from.

The twelve weeks arc through the season and its holidays — the calendar supplies the pressure, and what's actually changed is what's still standing at the end.

Each season stands on its own, with its own traits and challenges — start with any one, or move through the whole year. No background in Jewish text required. What it asks is a tolerance for being seen accurately, and the willingness to actually do the work.

How Vessel works

Not a course you complete. A season you go through.

Twelve weeks

One season, twelve meetings. A beginning, a middle, and an end — not an open-ended subscription.

A challenge each week

Every session hands you something real to carry into your life: an exercise, a practice, a thing to do.

Learning in service of doing

The sources are there to make the practice possible, not the other way around. You don't leave with notes.

Shaped by the calendar

Each season draws on its own moment in the Jewish year and its holidays, so the work meets the time you're actually in.

The four seasons

Each season stands on its own — start with any one, or move through the whole year. No catching up required.

Winter

Enrolling soon — the season of hidden light, Chanukah and the long nights.

Spring

Pesach and the work of leaving what holds you.

Summer

The turning of Tisha B'Av — loss, longing, and rebuilding.

Fall

In session — the Days of Awe and the accounting of a life.

Take a season. See what changes.

Write to us and we'll tell you when the next season opens, what a week looks like, and whether it's the right fit for where you are.
